Negli ultimi 1.544.966.430 secondi, me la sono spassata. Le 438.324 ore, 2.906 settimane o – se preferite – gli esorbitanti 50 anni che ho trascorso a bordo di questo pianeta sono stati complicati, ma gratificanti. Almeno sotto la doccia, ho buoni motivi per cantare.
Questo disco – un album di debutto e di addio al tempo stesso – parla d’amore, nel senso più largo e vasto possibile. Serve ad esprimere la mia gratitudine verso gli antenati, i consanguinei, i discendenti, e tutti coloro coi quali ho condiviso amori, amicizie e passioni. E serve a festeggiare il mio mezzo secolo con qualcosa che potrà suonare artisticamente risibile. Ma che durerà – insieme al mio grazie – molte, molte più ore, minuti e secondi di una qualsiasi, fugace festa di compleanno.

During the last 1,544,966,430 seconds, I’ve had some real fun. The 438,324 hours, 2,906 weeks or – if you prefer – the exorbitant 50 years I’ve been aboard this planet have been both challenging and rewarding. I have good reasons to sing – at least under the shower.

This recording (a debut and a retirement album at the same time) is about love in its broadest and fullest sense. It voices my thanks to ancestors, siblings, offsprings, and to all the people I have shared love, friendship and passions with. And it’s to celebrate my half century with something which may well sound artistically ludicrous, but which will last – along with my thanks – many, many more hours, minutes and seconds than any
fleeting birthday party.
